About MeetClara

MeetClara LLC, based in Chicago, makes Clara, MeetClara's AI phone companion for older adults. We built it for families who want more conversation in a parent's week — and who don't want the stories to slip away.

Why did we build MeetClara?

Most families can't call a parent every day, and the stories a parent tells are easy to lose. We built Clara so a parent gets unhurried conversation on the days the family chooses, and the family keeps a lasting record of each call.

What do we believe about AI and older adults?

  • On the first call, Clara is designed to say who she is, which family member asked her to call, and that she writes down what your parent shares for the family.
  • Every call is recorded — that's how your family keeps the stories.
  • We don't sell or rent your family's data.
  • MeetClara is a companion service — not a medical service, and not a medical alert system or a replacement for 911.
  • Clara adds conversation to the week; she isn't a replacement for family, friends or care.

I live in Seattle and Mom's in Ohio. I call on Sundays, but Sundays were becoming a status report — did you eat, did you take your pills. Clara calls her Tuesdays and Thursdays and they just talk. Last week I got a summary that said Mom had been describing the dress she wore to her first dance. I'd never heard that story in 51 years.

I'll be honest, I signed up because I felt bad about how little I call. What I didn't expect was to look forward to the summaries. It's 90 seconds of reading and I know how she's doing and what's on her mind. Then when I do call, I already have something to ask about.

— David, 47, Austin

The summary mentioned Dad had said his knee was 'acting up again' and he'd skipped his walk twice. He hadn't told me. I called, we got him seen, it was manageable. Clara didn't diagnose anything — she just wrote down what he said, and I read it.

— Robert, 55, Denver

I'm 24 and I'd never asked my grandfather about the war because I didn't know how. The transcripts gave me the questions. Now I call him and say 'tell me more about the boat' and he lights up.
