Who sent her, and why

When Clara first calls your parent, she’s designed to say she’s an AI companion from MeetClara and not a person, that she records their chats for your family, and which family member set her up to call.

Private by design

Connections between our systems are encrypted, and our database is encrypted at rest; the phone network itself isn’t encrypted end to end. We don’t sell or rent your family’s data.

You choose the circle

Only people invited to your family’s circle can see the calls in the app. Everyone in it can read the transcripts; you choose who can also play recordings, change the schedule, add notes, or invite others.

Questions

What families ask before the first call.

What does my parent need on their end?

A phone that rings. Landline, flip phone, or smartphone — no app to install, no password to remember, no new gadget to charge. Clara calls them from the same number every time, so it’s worth saving her as “Clara” in their phone, or on a note by the landline.

What if my parent misses a call?

Clara leaves a warm message and mentions when she’ll call next. They can call Clara back on her number — you choose whether she answers anytime, for a while after a missed call, or not at all. You’ll see the missed call in the app, where rescheduling takes a few taps.

What if my parent doesn’t warm up to Clara?

Give it a few calls — Clara keeps her turns short, follows their lead, and doesn’t push. You can also dial things back in the app: fewer calls, relaxed check-ins instead of story sessions, or a note to Clara about what they love talking about (and what to leave alone). And if it isn’t right for your family, you can pause or stop the calls anytime, no hard feelings.

Does my parent know Clara is an AI?

Yes. Clara is designed to open every call by saying she’s an AI companion from MeetClara. Until your parent has heard her full introduction, she also says she’s not a person and that she records their chats so your family can keep the stories — and if they ever ask, she says she’s an AI. No pretending, no surprises.

Who can hear the recordings?

Only the people you’ve invited to your family’s circle — and you decide who among them can play recordings versus read the stories. Behind the scenes, the phone, speech, and AI services that run Clara receive only what they need to do their job, and each one is named in our privacy policy. Our team doesn’t listen to your calls unless you ask us for help. We don’t sell or rent your family’s data, and you can export or delete all of it anytime.

Can I tell Clara what to talk about?

Yes. In the app you can suggest a story to ask about (“Dad’s first car,” “how Mom and Dad met”) or leave a note about the week ahead — a grandchild’s recital, a check-up, a worry. Clara is designed to weave it in when the moment feels right, rather than run through a list.

Can Clara remind them about medications and appointments?

Not the way an alarm or a pill organizer does. Clara won’t call at a set time just to deliver a reminder, and she can’t confirm a pill was taken. What she can do: if you leave her a note about a new prescription or Thursday’s check-up, she’ll look for a natural moment to ask about it. Clara is a companion, not a medical or emergency service.
